Douglas Lake is a popular destination in Sevier County and the surrounding counties, and it follows that plenty of people wish to hold vacations, weddings, and family get-togethers on this big, blue, beautiful lake for fun, atmosphere, and a relaxing place to stay. Douglas Lake is most convenient to Dandridge and Sevierville, but you can also get to Knoxville and Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg from Douglas Lake too.

Naturally, Douglas Lake is a hotbed for all things waterside and entertaining. Fishing is a first; so is boating and jet skiing, and there are plenty of services available to let you and your family do just that. Imagine meeting up with aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers and sisters you haven't seen in years for catching up on a Pontoon, or fishing off a boat like you've always planned.

In the summer, the lake shore becomes a great place for a picnic.
You can ride horses and Motorcycles if you've got the nerve.

Fishing

Douglas Lake provides fishermen with the hefty catches of Sauger, (Feb-March) in the river from Hwy 25 bridge upstream. Largemouth, (April-May), Crappie, (Usually March-May) A honeycomb of wide, shallow embayments attract the crappie in huge numbers during the spring spawning season, occasionally earlier.  Excellent fishing. White Bass, (Feb-March), mid April in the headwaters.  Bluegill, (April-Oct.)

Boating on Douglas Lake and Tennessee Rivers

The Tennessee River system, with its many reservoirs, offers area residents unsurpassed boating opportunities. All types of watercraft, from canoes to cruisers, can be seen on the water throughout the boating season.

"Historic" Dandridge is the official name of Tennessee's second oldest city, just 12 miles from Douglas Lake. It is located in the northern bank of the French Broad River (of which Douglas Lake is a part of) and is centered around the junction of Tennessee

State Route 92, connecting to Jefferson City as well as Sevier County.
Dandridge is centered around its "Historic" status, not necessarily its tourism, and is a quieter spot to visit than Sevier County. It is home to a large country club and golf course, and plenty of homegrown restaurants and shops.  Dandridge is also blessed to be near another popular lake with Cherokee Lake. Douglas is south, Cherokee is north. Expect plenty of fishing opportunities looking for small mouth
bass, walleye, black crappie.

Mostly, Dandridge is just a cool, quiet place to relax in if the lakes are too busy or you'd just like to get away from it all. But because its often quiet  in town doesn't mean it stays that way; there is a huge June Music Jubilee in the summer, Music every night on Thursdays in September, and of course there's always something for Christmas.

Smoky Mountain Area Attractions

Gatlinburg Ziplines - Experience the most awesome ziplines in Gatlinburg! Gatlinburg Zipline Adventures is a unique opportunity to view the stunning Mountains and have the ride of your life!  Nine ziplines and 1 skybridge in downtown Gatlinburg, just 2 blocks from the Parkway and adjacent to the Great Smoky Mountain National Park.

Dollywood - The only attraction bigger than Dollywood here in East Tennessee are the Great Smoky Mountains themselves. New for this year is Adventure Mountain, along with all the thrills and excitement of the many coasters, the fantastic entertainment,  the Appalachian crafts, the southern cooking, and carnival delights, Dollywood is an excellent value. These Shows and rides, are safe family friendly entertainment that you can count on.

Dolly's Splash Country - Dollywood's summer family fun center is a huge park with big slides, wave pool, toddler's area, lazy river, innertubes, gift shops and a place to eat. The park is extensively designed and strictly maintained with every safety code and standard, so you can guarantee your family will have a great summer time at Splash Country.

Dixie Stampede - Visitors and locals agree that Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede Dinner and Show in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee is a fun-filled, action-packed extravaganza that everyone should experience! It’s the perfect place for families, friends and groups to gather for spectacular special effects, amazing stunts by the most talented performers in the area. Wonderworks - Located on the Parkway in Pigeon Forge, TN. Look for the upside down building on the parkway. "WonderWorks," Pigeon Forge TN's #1 indoor Attraction is home to over 120 interactive adventures that will challenge your mind and body.  Plan to attend the "Hoot N' Holler Dinner Show," come laugh, dine, and have a great time.

Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies - A world class aquarium in the heart of Gatlinburg.

Dining in the Smokies

Bennetts BBQ - A local's favorite, Texas style BBQ with good southern fixins, with a great lounge with games to play and large outdoor porch.

The Alamo Steakhouse - Again a locals favorite for the best steaks in the area, this restaurant serves an incredible dinner with cold refreshments.

The Greenbrier Restaurant - Tucked away in the mountains, this old mountain lodge is guaranteed to please for casual fine dining.

Big Daddy's Pizzeria - Fantastic Wood Fired Pizza located in Sevierville and Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.  Families will enjoy the game room at the Pigeon Forge location. Free WiFi for customers.  Beer and Wine served.

England Food Group - Gatlinburg owns three of the cities most popular restaurants.  The Best Italian, Howard's Steakhouse and the Bear Creek Grill all located in Gatlinburg.

Douglas Lake is a TVA controlled and maintained reservoir lake and is subject to low lake levels in the winter months and drought conditions can affect the lake levels in summer.  Please check with the reservationist for more specific details concerning your travel times, cabin and its location.
